I’d like to tell you why our Black Joy Sparkles initiative was created.

I’m Lillian, the founder of Looking Glass Gems. We are a small rhinestone company operated by myself, my husband, Jaye and our family!

As a performer and artist myself, I believe wholeheartedly in the power of creativity. Art and creative outlets are powerhouses during times of change and resistance.

Art plays an incredibly important role in reminding us of our constant ability to find joy and grow resilience, especially for the BIPOC and LBGTQ+ communities I am a proud member of.

I beleive art is profound medicine and fuel for creating the vibrant, diverse and just world we desire. Jaye and I see an opportunity to generate and share resources with the Black members of our incredible, global arts community.

We have facilitated over fifty $50 certificates to Black creatives across the country since July of 2020. Making sure Black artists have the space and tools to create, to experience joy, is essential to our collective human survival. This mission has become a central part of our business model.
